A CLEAR STRATEGY TOWARDS THE ENERGY TRANSITION

Following European Strategies, and together with the Vice ministry of Vocational Education and Training, Education Department, Basque Government, and Tknika, the Basque Centre of Innovation and Applied Research in VET, USURBIL HIGHER VET CENTRE long ago detected the need to create a cutting-edge structure to facilitate the education of students, professionals, and unemployed persons in the field of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies. Our aim is to facilitate the transition of society towards a cleaner and more sustainable future in the field of energy.

We train EQF level 3 and 5 technicians in Installation Maintenance, Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency. We also deliver training to worldwide students with online and face-to face masterclasses, more and more using new technologies such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

Internationalisation is one of our main goals. We send our students abroad, host international students and develop international projects with our European partners. At this moment we are involved in four Erasmus+ KA2 projects: Blend4Vet, Edutrans, Enerducation and Microgrids.

All these projects have the aim of developing educational contents and infrastructure in the latest technologies to facilitate the energy transition. For example, in Edutrans we are developing 14 renewable energy didactic models and didactic materials, together with Dutch, German, Danish, and Spanish colleges.

We also aim at establishing a European platform of CoVEs for the development of unified VET Careers for the European Energy Transition as well as contributing to the 2050 goals and the desired Energy Transition towards a de-carbonised world.
